Banana and Chocolate Smoothie

The combination of banana, almond butter, cacao, avocado, chia and coconut water in this smoothie makes it perfect for breakfast, or an afternoon pick-me-up. Hell, its actually great for any time of the day. Bananas contain fibre, almond butter gives you a healthy dose of good fats and protein, cacao is choca block (pardon the pun!) full of antioxidants, while coconut water will hydrate you from the inside out!


You may wonder how and why coconut water is hydrating? Well it replenishes the electrolytes in the human body! What are electrolytes? They are ions (calcium, potassium, sodium, magnesium, phosphorus) that keep every little cell in our body hydrated. They are lost through day-to-day living (just being alive) and especially during activities that make us sweat – so it is important to keep replenishing them! This smoothie is also a perfect post work out drink!



A frozen banana, sliced

2 medjool dates, pitted (soak for 10-20 mins)

2 tbsp. raw almond butter (you can actually use any nut butter)

2 tbsp. raw cacao powder

1 tbsp. chia seeds

2 cups nudie coconut water

1 tsp. of vanilla extract

½ an avocado



Place all the ingredients in a blender (preferably high speed) and puree until completely smooth.


Pour into a large glass, garnish with coconut flakes or cacao nibs. Enjoy!!
